My Christmas Corner

Where do you even start when your baby is ready to eat solids?

I totally get how exciting but also a bit nerve-wracking it can be to introduce solid foods to your little ones. I used to wonder when will the boys be ready to eat solids because at this point they were still not sleeping the whole night and everyone kept telling us that by the time they start eating solids, they will sleep throughout the night and that’s all we wanted… to be able to SLEEP the whole night. I remember going for their vaccination and our nurse told us that the boys are ready for solids and she was going to brief us about the important things to know.

There were a lot of rules to follow, and as confusing and complicated everything sounded I knew this was going to be a big step for us as parents. There was a lot to be done, we had to buy high chairs, bibs, bowls, spoons, and of course some food that we have never heard of before.

Here are some tips that helped me out.

First things first, don’t stress! Each child is unique and will have their own approach to eating.

Start by offering little amounts of new foods and keep an eye out for any allergic reactions.

Make sure you Introduce a variety of flavors and textures to keep your little one interested. And don’t worry if there’s a bit of mess it’s all part of the stage of being a parent.

Finally, enjoy these wonderful moments. Watching your baby learn new skills is amazing, so take lots of pictures and treasure this special time.
